For the fourth consecutive year, the Kansas City Royals and The Kansas City Royals Foundation are proud to sponsor free admission to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) throughout February in honor of Black History Month.

“Over the past three years, we’ve had the privilege of providing all residents in and around Kansas City a chance to experience the powerful story of the Negro Leagues without cost,” said Luis Maes, Royals Vice President of Community Impact. “In 2025, we hope even more people will seize this opportunity to learn about the courage and talent of these players, who refused to let the color of their skin silence them.”

In 2024, the museum welcomed more than 16,000 visitors during February, which led to the Royals Foundation contributing over $135,000 to support the museum.

“We are ecstatic that the Kansas City Royals and The Royals Foundation are once again opening the doors of the museum free of charge for the entire month of February,” said Bob Kendrick, NLBM President. “The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is a valuable educational resource. This impactful community outreach provides greater access to the museum that will allow students and others to learn about a once-forgotten chapter of baseball and American history and be inspired by the courageous athletes who overcame tremendous social adversity to “play ball.”

The museum will operate on an extended schedule during February, including being open on Mondays (10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), except Presidents’ Day, February 17, when the museum will be closed. In addition, the museum will open at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays throughout the month. Regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Groups of 50 or more may arrange self-guided tours by contacting the NLBM at 816-221-1920 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. No reservations are required for smaller groups.

Visitors are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #FreeFebruary, tagging @kcroyalsfoundation and @nlbmuseumkc on Instagram.
