Where to Find Kansas City’s Hallmark Movie Filming Locations
Kansas City-based Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs are teaming up this year to bring fans “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” premiering Nov. 30.
Starring Hallmark veterans Hunter King and Tyler Hynes, this rom-com centers around Chiefs fan Alana Higman, who is vying for her family to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest – but she’ll have to impress Derrick, the Chiefs’ director of fan engagement.
“When her grandfather’s vintage Chiefs good-luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary,” Hallmark writes.
As the title suggests, there’s a big Chiefs presence in this film. Fans will see “Big Red” himself, Chiefs coach Andy Reid, as well as players Trey Smith, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, George Karlaftis and Mecole Hardman on their TV screens. Donna Kelce, mom to Chiefs star Travis Kelce, also appears in the film.
Want to explore more of “Holiday Touchdown”? Here are some of the filming locations you can find around the Kansas City area.
GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium
Chiefs fans should be fairly familiar with this filming location. Crews filmed many of the scenes in “Holiday Touchdown” at the loudest stadium in the world. Viewers will see shots from the field, stands, suites and parking lot of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
You might even see some familiar faces in the background of the film. Producers selected about 1,000 lucky Hallmark and Chiefs fans as extras. They donned their best winter gear despite the summer heat when Hallmark filmed.
Crown Center
Crews filmed the final scenes of “Holiday Touchdown” not far from Hallmark’s headquarters. Crown Center is an iconic destination for visitors in Kansas City, and especially during the holidays. But over the summer, it looked like Christmas in July for filming.
Hallmark set up Christmas trees and a small Christmas market for the film. Residents and visitors alike can see a similar scene on an even grander scale this winter when the Hallmark Christmas Experience takes over Crown Center.
Independence Square
The charming streets and businesses of Downtown Independence hit Hallmark’s screens this winter. One local family’s home, just blocks from Independence Square, even became a film set for many scenes.
The square features dozens of locally owned restaurants, retail shops and other businesses, already expecting some extra visitors this year as they explore this Hallmark movie town.
To celebrate the magic, Independence Square is taking the holidays to the max with extra décor and multiple events, including a holiday market, “living windows” performances and more.
Also on Nov. 30, Visit KC, in partnership with the Missouri Division of Tourism, will release its first nationwide commercial, airing on the Hallmark Channel throughout the holiday season.
Both the new Hallmark film and Visit KC’s ad feature some of the Kansas City area’s iconic and magical holiday sites, showcasing the destination to millions across the country.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Kansas City’s internationally recognized art museum is the backdrop for several shots in Visit KC’s holiday ad. For 30 years the Nelson-Atkins’ iconic shuttlecock sculptures have been perched on both the north and south lawns of the museum, with the stately building acting as the figurative net.
Decades later, they are still a signature of Kansas City and a favorite for family photos, weekend picnics and Instagram photos.
Charmed House Interiors
With dozens of antique and gift shops, the historic West Bottoms neighborhood is a popular holiday shopping destination each year. That’s especially true at Charmed House Interiors, seen in Visit KC’s nationwide ad.
This multi-story home décor business goes all-out for Christmas with snowflakes, ornaments, stockings and more for every holiday style.
Crown Center Ice Terrace
Embrace the chill this winter at this beloved Kansas City tradition, which you’ll see glimpses of in Visit KC’s commercial. If you want to lace up your skates and hit the ice in the heart of Downtown KC, the Ice Terrace is the perfect way to take in impressive winter wonderland sights at Crown Center.
This winter, Crown Center will be decked out for the Hallmark Christmas Experience. In addition to ice skating, guests can also enjoy a holiday market, a festive food hall, light shows and more immersive activities.
Mercury Room
Enjoy expansive views of the Kansas City skyline this winter at the Mercury Room. Whether you’re sitting amongst the hundreds of string lights inside or snuggling up on the outdoor patio, this luxurious cocktail bar in the Crossroads Arts District is ideal for a holiday date night or drinks with friends.
